Al-Qaeda: Pope visit to Turkey part of anti-Islam campaign

Al-Qaeda in Iraq on Wednesday denounced Pope Benedict XVI's visit to Turkey, calling it part of a “crusader campaign” against Islam.

In Istanbul, Vatican officials said the remark shows the need for faiths to fight “violence in the name of God.”

The trip is Benedict's first visit to an Islamic country as pontiff, seeking dialogue with Muslims who were angered over a speech he made in September in which he cited a medieval text that linked Islam and violence.

Al-Qaeda in Iraq, the most feared Islamic militant group in Iraq, issued its statement on an Islamic militant Web site it often uses to post messages.

Vatican spokesman Rev. Federico Lombardi said “neither the pope nor his entourage are worried” by the statement.

“This type of message shows once again the urgency and importance of a common commitment of all forces against violence,” Lombardi said. “It also shows the need of various faiths to say 'no' to violence in the name of God.”

Turkey holds a significant place in the mind-set of al-Qaeda and militant Islamic groups that sympathize with it. Under the Ottomans, Turkey was the seat of the Islamic caliphate, the religious rule extending over much of the Islamic world until its collapse in the early 20th century.

Below is the statement from Al-Qaeda in Iraq and goes as follows:

From the Ministry of Information/official spokesperson of the Islamic state of Iraq

Thanks are to God, the God of the worlds, blessings be upon the faithful, and No aggression except on the tyrants. Peace and prayers be upon the Imam of the Mujahedeens, our prophet Mohammed, his kin and his companions

God once said "They ask thee concerning fighting in the Prohibited Month. Say: "Fighting therein is a grave (offence); but graver is it in the sight of Allah to prevent access to the path of Allah, to deny Him, to prevent access to the Sacred Mosque, and drive out its members." Tumult and oppression are worse than slaughter. Nor will they cease fighting you until they turn you back from your faith if they can. And if any of you Turn back from their faith and die in unbelief, their works will bear no fruit in this life and in the Hereafter; they will be companions of the Fire and will abide therein."

The pope of the Vatican came to visit Turkey, a nation that was one day a fortress of the fortresses of Islam, he visits Turkey only after few months of his outrageous insult on Islam and the prophet Mohammed, the masters of all Arabs and non Arabs.

This visit comes during major events that are shaping this region in particular and the Islamic world in general. The strong waves of the crusade on the Islamic world are being shattered on the rock of the Mujahedeens and their steadfastness and by the help of god, these same waves reached a dead end in Iraq and Afghanistan. The NATO forces in Afghanistan are seeking an exit from this trouble that their stupid master Bush brought them into. The American administration and its tails in the Maliki Shiite government are living their most dreadful days in Iraq. The Mujahedeens are writing epics and stories of heroism in their fight against the crusaders forces of occupation and their apostate apparatuses and for the first time since the fall of the Ottoman Caliphate in the last century, the region is living the venture of reviving the Islamic Caliphate again. The Mujahedeens insist on a nation where the people of Islam will cling to their faith and where the Islamic law is the only rule on earth, a nation where they can migrate to and be part of its making with their sweat and defending it with their blood, a nation where they will rule by the book of God an the traditions of the prophet in everything in their daily life. Maybe the absence of such a state for over a century now, drove many Muslims to division and obedience to their tyrant rulers, even drove them to ask the infidels for help. And that will cut off the hopes of the secular thinkers in our nations who claim that the Mujahedeens have no clear vision nor a true political doctrine but that was well presented when the Mujahedeens in Iraq announced the establishment if the Islamic nation of Iraq in the heart of the Islamic world and the middle east, all thanks are to God.

All of these political changes along with the jihadi expanding wave in the Islamic world in the region pushed the Worshiper of the Cross, the Pope to visit Turkey in order to revive what is called "the dialogue of civilizations with Islamic world" and "the dialogue of faiths", a belief that is unfortunately adopted by some of Islamic scholars who show up on the satellite channels, those who promote the doctrines of defeat and despair in our Islamic world. Briefly we would say that the Pope 's visit is in reality a mobilization to the crusade campaign against the lands of the Muslims after the failure of their crusaders leaders, Bush, Blair, Berlskoni and Howard and others. His visit is an attempt to extinguish the flame of Islam that is shining in the hearts of our brethrens in Turkey in an attempt to obliterate their Islamic heritage and uproot their Islamic beliefs and to guarantee that they will stay in the swamps of secularism that was established by the Jew Ataturk and in order to push them in the arms of the European Union in order to stop the Islamic expansion and the Islamic awakening that Turkey is going through nowadays but we are confident with the help of God that the Romans will be defeated in every corner of the Islamic world in Iraq, Afghanistan, Chechnya, Palestine, Indonesia, Philippines and elsewhere and our destiny is victory, martyrdom and conquest and the establishment of a caliphate that will rule in the name of god, we will break the cross and we will abolish the alcohol and we will enforce the Islamic tax and it will be either Islam or the sword

This is what God and his messenger promised us
